Our 3 night break in ‘Gertrude’ four poster room was so special. We had the tasting menu one night, the 3 course dinner the other night and the (amazing) Sunday lunch …. All the food was superb and from the chefs; to front of house and housekeeping team - I can honestly say every single member of staff (including the manager) went out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. The history of the house is everywhere to see and I can’t wait to see further plans brought to life that will help us learn more about the paintings, carvings and families who owned Lewtrenchard. We plan to return when the weather is warmer so we can explore the grounds more fully and see the garden restoration plans underway. We’d visited Lewtrenchard over the years but this was the first time we stayed since it re-opened and you can really see the hard work and attention that has been invested in bringing this stunning building back to life. Well done to everyone involved, we loved it.

We stayed here in late November 2025. The hotel is stunning and full of history and quirky character. We had a large room upstairs which had access to a terrace. Spacious bathroom with rolltop bath and separate shower and separate basins. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The dinner was excellent and started with canapes in the lounge with its open log fire and leather sofas. Breakfast in the library felt very classy and was also delicious with plenty of choice. Lovely gardens and walk around the old quarry lake. Have already booked to return with friends! Exceptional!

Lovely old Manor steeped in history and appropriately maintained. Very friendly with a very high standard of service. Great breakfast and light evening meals, fantastic library and comfortable seating areas with large fireplaces. An upmarket home from home that I would recommend.

My family and I (including Wilber ) had the most wonderful stay at Lewtrenchard. The staff were friendly & worked incredibly hard to make sure everyone was looked after. The rooms were spotless & beautiful, as were the grounds. We loved the authentic, old manor feel with the open fires and stunning portraits / furnishings. We also had Breakfast & Sunday lunch (3 courses) which were stunning, some of the nicest food we have ever had. Outstanding all round, thank you so much for having us, we are already planning our return!

Such a beautiful place to stay. We stayed one night to see how it was after the recent renovation and to try out the dinner. We were not disappointed! The quality of the renovation is superb, both in the public areas and in our room. The outside works are not yet complete and are also extensive, but it looks as if this will be lovely by next summer. The dinner was also brilliant; original mix of flavours and some excellent pastry work. All in all it was a memorable stay.

My husband and I were super happy when we found out Lewtrenchard was reopening and booked to stay over the Christmas period. We were so grateful to see the renovations that were been completed kept the special essence of the manor and had just improved the experience of staying there. The team that worked over the Christmas period couldn't do enough for us and the food was incredible over the whole stay. My husband and I got to eat wonderful food, enjoy frosty walks in the ground and sit in front of the fires to warm up. It was the perfect way to spend Christmas. We would highly recommend staying at Lewtrenchard at any time, and would recommend the Christmas stay for a special and relaxing Christmas.

Spent a lovely birthday celebration afternoon and had the tea for two in the library, with friends. Very interesting building, beautifully appointed, lovely staff. Our only feedback would be less sweet options on the tea for two stack, and more savoury options. Perhaps sausage rolls, cheese straws, cheese scones.....
